L.I.F.E. (Leisure, Inclusion, Fun & Experience) Program

With a "menu" of more than 200 activities to choose from, MCFI opens the door to Leisure, Inclusion, Fun and Experiences for adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. L.I.F.E. programs promote personal choice, self-sufficiency, friendships, recreational opportunities and provide a support system for individuals as they move through life's challenges.

City LIFEDesigned specifically for adults with cognitive disabilities, City L.I.F.E. offers multicultural leisure and recreational activities, outdoor adventures including camping and travel, memberships at a local YMCA, health promotion, wellness, volunteer experiences and personal, household and community self-management.

Express LIFEExpress L.I.F.E. welcomes adults with and without disabilities to classes, outings and other social opportunities on evenings and weekends. Participants can choose from a menu of events, including dances, "dinner and a movie" nights, cooking classes, Nia dance and movement classes, art and music classes, shopping trips and many other activities at MCFI and in the community. Access LIFEAdults with physical disabilities find access to the community and support for developing a self-sufficient lifestyle, with enrollment in community education classes, leisure and recreational opportunities, memberships at a local YMCA, environment adaptations and referrals. Adults with Traumatic Brain Injury can benefit from the program as well.

My LIFEMy L.I.F.E. is designed specifically for individuals with complex medical needs including Traumatic Brain Injury, to help them develop a strong sense of identity regardless of medical condition. Participants have many opportunities to connect with the larger community, meet new people, make new friends and choose from a wide variety of activities and experiences. A specially trained, full-time Registered Nurse is available to coordinate medical support services, including G-tube feedings, blood glucose monitoring, medication and insulin administration, skin integrity monitoring, respiratory treatments, physical assessments and more.

Senior LIFEAdults ages 60 and over with cognitive disabilities are connected to our community through the MCFI Senior L.I.F.E. program. Participants may choose from more than 50 exciting activities, including memberships at local senior centers, intergenerational experiences, expressive arts programs, reminiscing activities, dining out, horticulture and many other opportunities to discover their own interests.

Health and wellness programs feature non-traditional therapy options and an on-site Registered Nurse.

Senior L.I.F.E. is based at the MCFI Southeast Campus, but in-house residential programs are also available. Adults under 60 years of age who have compromised health or endurance may also be eligible for services

Adventure in LIFE CampFor more than 10 years, MCFI has offered outdoor activities to people with significant developmental challenges. Our dedicated, professional staff is committed to offering campers with special needs an unforgettable week of summer adventures in a fun, safe environment.
Learning to handle a kayak, fixing a meal over an open fire, hooking that prized fish and hitting the archery taget are some of the things awaiting teens and adults at MCFI's Adventures for L.I.F.E. Camp. Both overnight and day camp settings are available.

Adventure in LIFE TravelTeens and adults with disabilities can explore some of America's best travel destinations wtih caring, personalized and experienced support from the MCFI Adventures for L.I.F.E. Travel Team. Trips are scheduled throughout the year.
