Welcome to the Milwaukee Center for Independence!
Since 1938, MCFI has been delivering innovative care to help people with special needs achieve a higher level of self-sufficiency and their full potential. MCFI was initially founded as Jewish Vocational Services to help World War II refugees assimilate to a new life in America by assisting them with housing, education, language skills and jobs. Over time, the organization’s focus grew to serve people with disabilities and other disadvantages. In 1990, the name was changed to the Milwaukee Center for Independence to better reflect the agency’s mission.
In 2018, MCFI will celebrate 80 years of service that has evolved over time to meet the needs of our community. Today, we deliver more than 30 programs, serving all ages and all disabilities, through education, employment and commercial service, long-term care, neurorehabilitation, health care and housing.
As the new CEO of MCFI, I am passionate about our mission and excited to lead our strong team of caring and compassionate team members into the next decade to provide integrated social and health care to our Wisconsin communities. MCFI is committed to improving the quality of life for our consumers and ensuring person-centered care, focused on the whole person.
